February 28th - Last Day of the Month...

i've been trimming my own hair for nearly 20 years. when i was a teenager, my mother put one of those home-perms in my hair. up until that point, my hair was STRAIGHT. since that perm, it's been a semi-curly, frizzy, annoyance. about 5 years ago i discovered the flat-iron and have been straightening it almost daily --- til today. i walked into a hair salon for the first time since 1990/1991 and had a "real" trim, and while we were at it, i had it straightened... permanently. Caroline also got a hair cut - she doesn't look that much different either (she's afraid of change - LOL), but i did have the girl layer it, so hopefully we're done with Little-Miss-Rat's-Nest for a while too!

February 26th - And Another...

the motor in the laptop has been trying to die for a couple of weeks now, and after seeing my shiny new electronics, Nick had to have shiny new electronics too....

February 25th - New Computer :D

Picked it up today after almost a week of window shopping!
It's not much to look at but boy is it FAST, hehe!

February 24th - Another trip to the Doc

seems like i've been livin at the urgent care clinic with the crud hitting one kid at a time the last couple of weeks!

February 23rd - Oh Happy Day!

i got a new dryer today! woot! no more waiting a whole day for the clothes to dry :D

February 22nd - The Finished Project

Here's what Caroline's science project ended up looking like - mostly. I had to fold it into thirds so it would stand up on it's own. It doesn't look like much, but she's pretty proud of it, being her first project & having come up with everything on her own!

February 21st - It's Almost Done?

Caroline worked a bit on her project yesterday... and i'm just now posting a preview, i know bad blogger... i'll post the finished product tomorrow - that picture is still on the camera. The only thing *I* have done so far is print up the papers she typed up. i used a few of the ellies from Geeks Are Hot (a sweet shoppe kit) on each page, per daughter's instructions, lol... she's pretty insistent on doing this herself. it's her first one ever :)

February 20th - The Science Project: Step 1

it's actually step 2, coz i got suupplies earlier, LOL Caroline has a science project due on Monday (nothing like last minute, eh?) and her "experiment" is pretty much something she saw on Mythbusters a long time ago... Mentos VS Peppermints in Diet Coke.... Which one makes the bigger fizz? Here she is typing up her question, hypothesis, materials and method....


tomorrow we'll be putting the question to the test and taking pictures to print for her posterboard display.

February 19th - That Darn Cat

got up to go to the laundry room and the cat beat me there... again... i stopped in the doorway, he stopped and just stood there, looking at the dryer (his food bowl is on top of the dryer). instead of stepping into the laundry room, i turned around and went to the living room for the camera. he followed. turned around to go back to the laundry room - he beat me there again.

he's just standing there, waiting for me to step into the room.

the second i step into that room, he'll be up on top of the dryer.

all i want to do is pull the (finally) dry clothes out of the dryer and load her up again - WITHOUT his butt in my face, for a change

i stood there for a full 5 minutes... waiting. so did he.
i stepped back, he turned around and looked at me.
i stepped forward, he turned around and looked up at the dryer, tail swishing, daring me to step into the room.
i stepped in. he jumped up on the dryer. (told you!)

i rushed him, yanked him off the dryer, threw him out of the laundry room and slammed the door closed.... and (happily) pulling clothes out of the dryer, while he scratched and pawed at the laundry room door, cursing me with his meowing meowing meowing.

i took great joy in doing the laundry - something i don't often do. wanna know why?
coz i usually have a cat butt in my face! lol!

February 18th - Stickie Stickie Stickie

Now Nick is contributing to my stickie habit -- he added a "so-called" stickie ... one he made with the flap from an orbit gum package... to remind me to get him a book called "Hope They Serve Beer in Hell" (go see TuckerMax.com - one of the guys at work recommended it... and the book... LOL). I just find it funny that he wrote the title of the book right above the Orbit slogan ... dirty mouth? clean it up with orbit!

i guess you had to be there....

February 17th - Scrabble

Glow sticks - you can find em at any Dollar Tree and they'll keep your kids entertained for several hours...

February 15th - Chillaxin' With The Cat

in MY chair no less... like they own it or something... lol.

February 14th - Company

We had some friends over for a game of Rummoli (all you Canadians should know what that is, hehe). We play with nickels nowadays instead of pennies. Last time they took just about all of our nickels ~ this time I managed to keep my own nickels, win back the nickels Nick lost and was still up by 4 nickels between the two of us, LOL! After Rummoli, we played a horse racing game (all you Canadians should know what that is too, LOL), and then moved on to this brand new board game that they brought with them called Zombies. That was interesting (and we weren't losing any money, ROFL). The gray and green guys are zombies, and then the colored guys are us. I'm the green guy :) You add pieces to the board, kill zombies, collect life and bullet tiles (hopefully), and wait for the helipad board piece to come up. Object of the game is to either kill and collect 25 zombies or be the first to get to the helipad.
I, of course, being the battle-chicken, LOL!, was waiting for the helipad board piece to come up, and when it did, i won, LMAO!


While we played all that, he kids ran all over the house having a ball between the bedrooms and the Wii and movies. This is Nicky sitting with cayute little Hayleigh (I'm pretty sure I spelled her name wrong... but she's still cayute - and he thinks so too, LOL)

February 13th - Tatoos R Us

Nicky's box of Valentine's (with a spiderman theme) came with tatoos - lucky him! So he had me help him paste some of them on his arms today, hehe

February 12th - Valentine Party Prep!

The kids have Vday Parties at school tomorrow, so they got home from school and scattered their cards everywhere to work on them....

meanwhile, Nicky NEATLY stacked his cards and began working on them in an orderly fashion - boy after my own heart, LOL!

February 11th - My Poor Boy

February 10th - Could it be Snow? & OMG

2 fascinating photos for you tonight, lol, because, again, I couldn't just pick one...

First - it tried to snow last night/early this morning, so I stupidly got my hopes up... hoping there wouldn't be any school. Every school in the county was closed EXCEPT the three schools in our district, lol! This is as much snow as we got here --- it was more like ice than snow....

Then, we have another picture of Nicky ~ who's rather pathetic-looking, no? By dinner time today, we realized that he probably has, the horror, pink eye, so we'll be off to the doctor's in the morning... kid can't catch a break this week, and it's only Tuesday! He's been quarantined and isn't allowed to touch anything or anybody til we get some meds, lol.

February 9th - Did You Know....

nicky's huddled up in our bed with boomerang today.... he's coughing, has a headache, and his throat hurts. no fever tho. one of the neighbor kids is getting over Strep, so we'll see....

especially when he's holding a glass of make-you-go-poo medicine the night before a colonoscopy procedure, hehe.

February 7th - Wii Would Like to Play... Some More

yep, it's saturday again ~ nick's workin his TSP class (finally!! flippin yahoos, lol), so the kids get the tv (and the laptop to play with their Funkeys) today.
Nicky REALLY gets into the Wii Sports, lol! We have the tennis racket attachment (along with the baseball bat and golf club), but i can just see it going thru the tv, LOL! so they deal with just the controllers... and drool over Dad when he plays coz he's "allowed" to use the attachments, hehe.

February 6th - MoviePalooza

this is my ever-growing movie collection... book #4 is almost full, so it'll be time to buy another one pretty soon! last time i counted we have over 800 movies - and i pulled about 100 of those that i know we'll never watch again ~ a lot of which are movies the kids have grown out of.
i've seen almost every single one of them, too - some of them i've watched 2 or 3 times, lol.
usually Nick is out playing poker or watching a PPV at a friend's house on Saturday nights, so the kids get a movie night. this weekend's movie is madagascar 2 - escape 2 africa. it came out a week early! woot! lol!

February 5th - PopPalooza

yea, we're total pop freaks around here. ok. i take that back. i'm the pop freak. especially when it goes on sale. how can i pass up a 24pk on sale for $3.88??? i can't. there's no way, LOL! the pepsi was on sale last week for $2 each. couldn't pass that up either... diet pepsi is my "backup" for when i run out of diet coke, LOL! the other flavors are Nick's

February 1st - Dreadful Sunday &..

..the most heinous of chores ... laundry.
it's crunch time today ~ as it is every sunday, making sure the man has clean army uniforms, clean PTs and the kids have clean clothes for the week...
a tough chore considering the fact that the heating element on the dryer crapped out about a month and a half ago. it doesn't look as bad as it normally does today (thankfully!) b/c with the heating element out, i'm having to keep on top of it all week.
